Hinckley was an All-State pitcher/first baseman from Rex Putnam High School in Portland when he came to Lower Columbia  in 1972 to play for Red Devil Head Coach Jack Riley.  Stephen dominated on the mound at LCC as he amassed a two-year record of 20-4 with an ERA of 1.50.  He had two no-hitters as a Red Devil and was named to the All-Conference team.  He also was an All-NWAC Tournament selection in the 1972 playoffs.  When he wasn’t pitching, Hinckley played first base and hit .300 both seasons.  Steve played with some of the most talented players in LCC history including Rick Sweet, Hank Jones, Rex Easley, Byron Burns and Ed Kittle.

Following his LCC success, Hinckley was offered a scholarship at the University of San Diego where he played for legendary coach John Cunningham.  A freak off-season hand injury ended his junior season at USD and then he was injured on the same hand heading into his senior campaign.  Although Stephen played in just 20 games at USD, he maintained his scholarship and graduated in 1976.

Stephen returned to Portland and got into mortgage banking.  He started his own company in 1981 and sold it before managing First American Mortgage for six years.  He has since amassed 40 years of real estate work as an entrepreneur, corporate lender, mortgage banker and private investor.  He founded and serves as CEO at Landcap Investment Partners. Hinckley has invested over $400 million of equity and capital with project values of over $2.5 Billion.

Steve lives in San Diego with his wife Susan. They have three adult sons Rob, Jeff and Michael.
