(Vancouver, WA) – The Lower Columbia College Red Devils played without starter
Carter McCoy and reserve
Camryn Berry but were still able to get a quality road win at Clark.
McCoy was held out of the game due to an injured shoulder and Berry became ill right before the game. The Devils didn't let it become an excuse and they held off the Penguins 68-61.
"We were down a couple of guys but were still able to come out with a victory", said head coach
Mickey Polis. "We had some guys playing out of position but they did a great job on short notice. I'm proud of how we competed and happy to get the win."
The Penguins jumped out to a 4-0 lead and that could of creeped into the Devils thinking. When Clark went up 10-4, the Devils answered with a 9-2 run and it was a close game for most of the half.
Kaden Horn hit a three pointer with a 1:28 left before halftime giving the Devils a 37-25 advantage at the break.
Clark didn't go away and they actually got within two points with 3:48 left to play. But the Devils stayed poised and hit free throws down the stretch to get the victory. Horn hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final two minutes to seal it.
