Mickey Polis

Mickey Polis

Mickey Polis has consistently won games since being hired prior to the 2017-2018 season.  Polis has gone 169-47 in eight seasons with a remarkable winning percentage of 78%. He has led the Devils to six consecutive West Region championships. And now he has the big prize on the resume: NWAC Championship Coach!

Polis led the 2025 Red Devils to the promised land as the Devils defeated Southwestern Oregon 67-63 for the NWAC title.

In his eight years he has taken the Devils to the NWAC Final Four in 2025; NWAC Sweet 16 in 2018, 2022, 2023 and the Elite Eight in 2019 and 2024. There were no NWAC championships in the 2020 or 2021 seasons due to Covid-19.  The 2020 Red Devils were West champs and poised for a big run before the tournament was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Coach Polis played basketball at Lower Columbia for two seasons in 2006 and 2007. The Devils made it all the way to the title game during his freshmen year, losing a heartbreaker. He played for legendary LCC head coach Jim Roffler before becoming his replacement when Roffler retired.

Polis came from Linfield College where he had been the lead assistant under Shanan Rosenberg. Polis arrived in McMinnville after four seasons on the staff of Portland State University.

After his two seasons at LCC, Polis transferred to Portland State where he helped the Vikings play in two NCAA tournaments. Polis graduated from PSU in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and went on to receive a Masters Degree in education.

A native of Longview, Polis played in four WIAA State tournaments for Mark Morris High School and started for three years.  He earned All-State honors while at Mark Morris.

Polis is the son of Mike and Heidi Polis of Longview.  Mickey was raised as a Red Devil as his father Mike spent nine seasons as the head coach at Lower Columbia. Mike is a Red Devil Hall of Famer as a basketball and baseball player and LCC coach.

Mickey is married to Jessica (Fisher), a former LCC volleyball player and coach. Mr. and Mrs. Polis live in Longview and are expecting their first child in April.
