Red Devil Men’s Hoop Ready For The Challenge

(Longview, WA) – The Lower Columbia men's basketball team is in search of a third straight West Region championship.  The Devils are excited to get back on the floor.
 
There will be plenty of new faces on the 2023-24 Red Devil squad as just four players return from last year's Elite 8 team.
 
"We are excited to finally get the season underway. After many workouts, practices, and scrimmages we are ready to start playing games that count", said head coach Mickey Polis. "We have challenged our team this preseason and they have responded with hard work, determination and personal sacrifice. We need to continue on this path of growth in order to get better throughout the entire season. I hope our fans will come out and continue to support our program like they always do. This will be another fun team to watch with a lot of likeable players."
 
Polis, now in his 7th year at the helm of the Red Devil program shared his thoughts on this season's talented group of players:
 
David Young (6-5 G, Fr. Folsom CA) "David is a hardworking, efficient basketball player who stuffs the stat sheet. He has the ability to be a playmaker all over the floor."

Joshua Jackson (6-4 G, Redshirt Fr. Sunset HS Beaverton) "Josh brings a great focus and work ethic to our team. He has dedicated himself this past year to basketball. I am excited for him to showcase his unique skill set this year."

Camryn Berry 6-7 F, Redshirt Fr. Sunrise Mt. HS Las Vegas NV) "Camryn is just scratching the surface to his abilities. He has grown this offseason in all facets of the game. With that continued focus he will be a major contributor this year."

Malik Brown (6-1 G, Fr. Tigard OR) "Malik is a high motor PG that has tremendous tools in the toolkit. He will need to be the straw that stirs the drink for us both on offense and defense."

Carter McCoy (6-5 G/F, So. W.F. West HS Chehalis) "Carter will be stepping into a bigger role for us this year. Fans will be happy to see him flying around on defense again making plays. He has worked hard this offseason to take his game to the next level."      

Kaden Horn (6-0 G, So. Union HS Vancouver) "Kaden gave us a great spark at the end of last year. Fans will be happy to see his sweet stroke and competitive spirit on display again. He's come in this season with a refreshed approach and he will be fun to watch."

Kobe Parlin (6-2 G, Fr. Mark Morris HS Longview) "Kobe has come in this fall full of energy and spirit. He is a tough, hard-nosed player that will do whatever it takes to win. Kobe's ability to make positive plays makes him an integral piece to our program."

Keshawn Lewis (6-1 G, Fr. Foss HS Tacoma) "Keshawn's been a tremendous addition to our team and has made an immediate impact on the defensive end. Keshawn always seems to be around the ball. We are looking forward to watch him grow this upcoming season."

Cody Dauterman (6-4 G, Redshirt Fr. McMinnville OR) "Cody's hard work and determination has endeared himself to his teammates. He will be playing multiple positions for us that include very different responsibilities. He has been a pleasure to coach."

Jonah Zeller (6-10 F, So. Catlin Gable HS Portland) "Jonah comes into this year with the focus and determination a sophomore needs. He loves being in the gym. He is locked in for this upcoming season. I am really excited to see his continued growth."
 
Amir Locus (6-8 F, Redshirt Phoenix AZ)  "Amir will spend this year fine tuning his talents as a redshirt.  He has tremendous upside."
 
Polis will be joined by assistant Allan Brown, who has been on the staff since he was hired. Brown begins his 9th year with Lower Columbia College.  New to the staff this year is former Morton/White Pass coach Chad CramerCameron Holden will also serve as a grad assistant.
