Devils Go 2-2 At NWAC Crossover in Eugene

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 EUGENE, Ore. — Lower Columbia made it to the championship match at the NWAC Crossover but fall to the host team Lane Titans.

GAME ONE
Lower Columbia defeated Skagit Valley 3-2 on Friday 9-11-26. LCC dropped the first two sets before winning the final three, taking the match 22-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-18, 15-10.

Kendall Humphrey led the Red Devils with 14 kills and 15.5 points, and added 14 digs. Karissa Otterstetter finished with 20 assists, 17 digs, six kills and one block assist. Kendal Dean recorded 22 assists, three service aces and seven digs. Lauretta Vasi-Tauki'uvea added 11 kills while hitting .435.

LCC finished with 49 kills, 77 digs and six service aces while hitting .159 for the match.

GAME TWO
Lower Columbia lost to Lane 3-2 on Friday. LCC won the first and fourth sets and pushed the fifth set, with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 21-25, 25-22 and 16-18.

Kendall Humphrey scored a team-high 14.0 points with 12 kills, 19 digs, one ace and one solo block. Karissa Otterstetter posted 37 assists and 15 digs while adding seven kills and three block assists. Kamryn Sande collected a team-high 21 digs and served three aces. Chesney Schultz recorded eight kills, five total blocks, nine digs and two service aces.

LCC finished with 51 kills, 92 digs, 9.0 blocks and eight service aces, while Lane had 68 kills and hit .207.

GAME THREE
Saturday, 9-13-26, Lower Columbia defeated Columbia Basin 3-0. LCC hit .248 with 38 kills and 49 digs, taking the sets 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

Kendall Humphrey finished with nine kills while hitting .320, adding 10 digs and two service aces. Chesney Schultz recorded nine kills on a .300 hitting percentage and added two aces. Lauretta Vasi-Tauki'uvea posted seven kills while hitting .400 and collected three block assists. Kendal Dean tallied 17 assists, nine digs, one ace and a kill on her only attack.

Columbia Basin finished with 32 kills and hit .156.

GAME FOUR (Championship Match)

The Lower Columbia College volleyball team fought through four tight sets in the Crossover Championship title match, but ultimately fell 3-1 to Lane Community College despite strong individual performances across the floor.

Lower Columbia established continuous offensive pressure throughout the match, out-killing the Titans 51 to 47 overall. Kendall H. led the Red Devils' attack with a match-high 13 kills on 31 swings, finishing with an efficient .323 hitting percentage. Chesney S. joined her in double digits with 10 kills while serving up 4 aces to keep Lane under pressure at the baseline.

Lauretta Vasi-Tauki'uvea contributed 9 kills at the net, supported by 8 kills apiece from Anika P. and Karissa O.

Lower Columbia's dual setters kept the offense active, tallying 46 team assists. Karissa O. directed the floor with 26 assists, while Kendal D. picked up 14 assists and added 13 digs for a double-double performance.

Defensively, the Red Devils posted 90 digs across four sets. Kamryn S. paced the back row with a team-high 23 digs, while Kendall H. collected 18 digs to complete her own double-double. Anika P. added 17 digs to bolster the defensive effort.

Lower Columbia also controlled the service line with 10 team aces compared to Lane's 3, but the Titans capitalized on key transitional points down the stretch to seal the four-set victory.

While the loss brings a tough end to the tournament run, the Red Devils walk away with valuable experience as they pivot toward the remainder of their schedule.
