The Lower Columbia Red Devils continued their strong season with a dominant second-half performance, pulling away for a 76-42 win over the Pierce Raiders on Wednesday night. The Red Devils (21-4, 8-2) turned a four-point halftime lead into a 34-point rout, outscoring Pierce 47-17 in the second half.
Leading the charge for Lower Columbia was James Grose, who exploded for 25 points, shooting an impressive 10-for-15 from the field, including 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. Grose also contributed six rebounds and two steals.
Kap Laila provided a steady interior presence, adding 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out three assists, and blocking two shots.
Amir Locus contributed 12 points, all from long range, hitting 3-of-7 from deep.
David Young chipped in with seven points and three steals, while Malik Brown filled the stat sheet with five points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.
Lower Columbia's defense was stifling, forcing 23 turnovers and collecting 12 steals. The Red Devils held the Raiders to just 33.9% shooting from the field and a dismal 1-for-11 from three-point range. Lower Columbia dominated the glass as well, out-rebounding Pierce 43-31, including a 15-9 edge on the offensive boards.
For Pierce (5-18, 2-8), Mande Wanlemvo was the lone bright spot, leading his team with 10 points and nine rebounds while also throwing down a highlight dunk just before halftime.
However, Pierce's offensive struggles in the second half proved too much to overcome as Lower Columbia asserted its dominance and secured another key NWAC victory.
No time to rest for the Devils as they prepare for the South Puget Sound Clippers (21-4 / 10-0), to come into Longview on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 7:00 pm tip.Â
