(Tacoma, WA) – With the West Region championship already in their hip pocket, the Red Devils men's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 84-67 loss to Green River on Wednesday February 28
th in Tacoma.
Lower Columbia had it's 16 game win streak snapped in the process.
The Gators hit 15 of 34 three-point shots and played inspired. Green River outscored LCC 47-34 in the second half.
Despite suffering a leg injury in the first half,
Kaden Horn gutted it out and led the Devils with 19 points.
Carter McCoy had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
David Young scored 15 and pulled six boards.
LCC has won the West Region title five straight years. Head coach
Mickey Polis is on a roll with the program and the Devils will have big incentive as they head to the NWAC Championships as the top seed from the West. The Devils will open up play in Pasco against Walla Walla, one of just three teams to beat the top-ranked Devils this season. The Warriors beat Lower Columbia 101-94 back on December 15
th in Albany. The Devils then reeled off 16 straight after that loss.
The Devils and Warriors will play Thursday March 7
th in a 12 noon game at the Columbia Basin Gym in Pasco, WA.
