(Salem, OR) – Two wins and a close loss was the story for the Devils at the Chemeketa Crossover in Salem on December 14-16.
LCC did have to deal with some adversity as big men
Jonah Zeller and
Carter McCoy were injured in the middle game. Both should be ready to go by the new year.
Game #1 – Lower Columbia 74 Shoreline 56
The Devils found themselves down in the first half, but rallied to even things up 29-29 at the half. That's when LCC took off and won going away, outscoring the Dolphins 45-27 in the second half.
Kobe Parlin spurred the second half improvement as he scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the final 20 minutes.
Zeller had a great game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He equally split the 10 boards on the offensive and defensive glass.
Camryn Berry played a very active game with eight points, 10 boards and three blocked shots.
Josh Jackson provided some quality minutes off the bench with 12 points and five rebounds.
Kaden Horn had eight points and seven boards.
Game #2 – Walla Walla 101 Lower Columbia 94
The Devils were getting blown out in the first half as the Warriors were red hot. Walla Walla led 58-41 at the break but the Devils came back and got right back into the game.
LCC actually took a four point lead 10 minutes into the second half and the game then became a back-and-forth affair down the stretch.
Malik Brown had a huge game for LCC with 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Parlin had 20 points. Horn had another good scoring game with 16 points.
Zeller had 12 points when he aggravated his surgically repaired shoulder and had to come out of the game.
Carter McCoy also went down with a strained lower back and missed the second half.
David Young continues to play incredible defense for Lower Columbia. He gets the toughest assignments and locks down on a nightly basis. Young also had eight points and six rebounds against Walla Walla.
Game #3 – Lower Columbia 87 Chemeketa 78
The Devils shot 53 percent in the host teams gym and that helped the team to a solid victory. LCC hit 9 of 17 three-point shots (62.5%). The team also was money at the line hitting 18 for 20 (90%).
Parlin had 22 points to lead the Devils. Brown was next with 17. Young had a big offensive game (16 points) to go with his stellar defense.
Horn had 14 points.
Keshawn Lewis hit all five of his free throws and scored nine with three assists.
The Devils hit the Christmas break with a record of 10-2. The team's next game is Saturday December 30
th at Bellevue. The game tips off at 2 pm. The next home game and final tune-up for league is Friday January 5
th against Shoreline. Game time is 5 pm.
