(Longview, WA) – A big first half propelled the Lower Columbia men's basketball team to an 85-51 victory over Chemeketa in the home opener.
Kobe Parlin played his first LCC game in his hometown and he made it memorable. The freshman from Mark Morris High School scored 18 of his team-high 23 points in the first half as the Devils took a 47-20 lead into the locker room.
Carter McCoy had a double-double for the Devils with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Lower Columbia shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 33 percent from distance. But if there was any chance for Chemeketa to get back into the game in the second half, the Devils were going to have to miss some free throws. It didn't happen. LCC ended up 17 for 20 from the charity stripe.
Jonah Zeller had a solid game with 11 points and six rebounds.
Malik Brown was tremendous off the bench with eight points, five boards and a team-high eight assists.
Joshua Jackson and
Cody Dauterman each had eight points off the bench.
Every Red Devil scored in the game.
The Devils are 2-0 on the season and host the Red Devil Classic after Thanksgiving. LCC will take on Southwestern Oregon at 7 pm on Friday November 24
