(Kelso, WA) – The Clackamas Cougars have elevated their game in four games with LCC this season. That was the case on Wednesday May 10
th as the Cougars took a pair of games at Tam O'Shanter Park.
Clackamas won the first game 5-2 and took the nightcap 7-5.
The highlight of the day was the between-game ceremony that honored eight outstanding sophomores who will be playing their final LCC games at the NWAC Championships in Spokane.
The Cougars hit three homers in the first game, two by Mia Falitico. The game was tied 1-1 after four innings, but Falitico hit a solo blast in the 5
th and a 2-run shot in the 6
th.
Jade Behic took the loss.
Katelyn McGough had two hits and scored both LCC runs.
Mallory Brown also had two hits for the Devils.
Second game starter
Rylee Peters was also victimized by a Clackamas multi-homer hitter. Cassidy Phelps hit a solo homer in the second inning and a two run bomb in the third. Peters kept the Devils in the game by pitching well in the middle innings.
Down 7-1 after five innings the Devils tried to come back. McGough hit a two-run homer in the 6th and a two-run double in the 7
th bringing the tying run to the plate. Behic got rung up on a low pitch to end the game.
McGough was 3 for 4 with three RBI's.
Sunny Bennion had a double with two walks and two runs scored. Behic was 2 for 3 with a walk.
The Devils have just two more league games before the post season. LCC will be at Clark on Friday May 13
th. The DH begins at 3 pm.
