The Lower Columbia soccer team dominated the stat sheet and controlled most of the game.  But it took a Shelby Vermeulen goal in the 74th minute to pull out a 1-0 victory over Pierce on Wednesday September 26th.

The Red Devils outshot the Raiders 24-3 on the day.  But the LCC shots did not have the normal verve.  Pierce hung around and had LCC squirming as the clock ran down.

Vermeulen, a converted goalkeeper, has been outstanding.  She got a shot over an extended Pierce goalkeeper and the ball trickled into the net.  Baylee Wright was credited with the assist.

It was Vermeulen's ninth goal in eight games.

Chloe Brimhall played all 90 minutes and was again outstanding on defense.

The Devils are now 3-3-0 in the West Region and 5-4-0 overall.

LCC will next host Centralia at 4 pm on Wednesday October 3rd.
