The Lower Columbia College took a step away from NWAC South Region play for a double header at Linfield on Thursday May 3rd.
After dropping the opener 5-2 where they could muster just two runs and four hits, the Devils rallied with seven runs in the final four innings of game two to win 7-5.
In the opener, Linfield exploded for five runs and eight hits in the first four innings.Â
Nizhoni Wheeler came on in relief and shutdown the Wildcats with three innings of hitless relief.
Shanay Dotson had two of the Devils four hits with an RBI.Â
Allie Hall drove in the other run for LCC.
Wheeler came back into the circle for the second game and went four innings allowing five hits and two runs.Â
Christine Robbins pitched the final three innings and although she hit a couple of rough patches against the talented younger Wildcat players, she finished strong in the 7th to get the win. Robbins allowed seven hits and three runs but closed it out with a scoreless 7th after the Devils rallied.
Cheyenne Gilbertson hit a clutch two run single in the top of the 7th inning to provide the winning margin.
Dotson had two more hits in the second game.Â
Sarah Potwin had two hits and an RBI.Â
Briana Harvill had an RBI double.Â
Cheyann Bartlett came up with a two run single.
LCC goes to 31-11 on the season.
Lower Columbia returns home for a league double header with Clark on Saturday May 5th. The Cinco De Mayo action at Tam O'Shanter Park begins at 12 pm.
