It was another South Division road sweep for the Lower Columbia softball team on Wednesday April 25th.
The Devils plated 35 runs on 36 hits as they defeated Chemeketa 17-12 and 18-2 in Salem.
Shanay Dotson had a huge double header for the Devils as she was 7 for 11 with a homer, two doubles, four RBI's, seven runs scored and two steals.
The Red Devils started the day by scoring four runs in the first and seven runs in the second. What appeared to be an easy blowout turned into a game when the Storm rallied for seven runs in the 4th inning. LCC settled down and when
Skylar Hunter and
Arielle Burnett hit back to back homers the deed was done.
Nizhoni Wheeler started the game and then re-entered after the Chemeketa uprising. Wheeler went 6 2/3 with eight strikeouts and four earned runs.
There were plenty of hitting stars. Dotson was 3 for 6 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI's. Burnett was 3 for 5 with a homer.
Briana Harvil continued her torrid hitting by going 2 for 4 with three RBI's.Â
Allyssa Gustafson,
Aurora Gouley each had two hits and two RBI's.
Christine Robbins entered the circle for game two and pitched a gem. She went the distance for the victory with four strikeouts. Her RBI single broke up a scoreless game in the third inning.
Robbins gave up a two-run homer in the 4th, her only mistake of the game, and the Storm had a lead for the first time.
Kendell Clauson tied it up in the 5th with a solo homer. It was all Devils after that. LCC plated three more in the frame and then purchased a ton of insurance in the final innings.
Dotson was 4 for 5 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Harvill was 2 for 5 with 5 RBI's including her team leading 10th homer of the season.
Gustafson was 3 for 5 with two RBI's.Â
Cheyenne Gilbertson, Robbins and Clauson all had two hits.
The Devils hope to stay hot when they travel again for a key league double header at Mt. Hood on Saturday April 28th. The first game in Gresham begins at 12 pm.
The Devils are now 15-3 in the South (first place) and 27-9 overall.
