Great Pitching Highlights Sweep At Centralia

Arielle Burnett's 7th inning homer fueled the Devils to victory

The Lower Columbia softball team got two great pitching performances in a double header sweep at Centralia on Tuesday April 24th.

Nizhoni Wheeler struck out a college career high 14 batters in a 5-2 Devil win in the opener. Christine Robbins allowed just five hits in the Devils 9-1 win in the second game.

Wheeler was locked into a great pitching duel in the first game.  Centralia had a 2-1 lead going to the top of the ninth inning when Arielle Burnett smashed a homer run to center field to tie up the game. The Devils then added three more in the inning.

Wheeler then struck out the side to complete the victory. She allowed just five hits and walked one.

Cheyenne Gilbertson had two RBI's and Robbins had two hits.

Robbins got great offensive support in the second game as the Devils blasted two homers.  Briana Harvil was 2 for 4 with a double and her 9th homer run of the season.

Kaylee Strahan also had two hits including a two-run homer.  Aurora Gouley and Robbins each had two hits and an RBI.

With the sweep, the Devils stay in first place in the South division with a 13-3 record, 25-9 overall.
