The Lower Columbia soccer team had three point blank chances in the first few minutes of their home match with Green River. LCC couldn't cash in and the Gators were thinking they could pull off a road upset.
Didn't happen.
LCC finally made good on two opportunities for a 2-0 halftime lead then ran away for a 5-1 victory on Wednesday October 17
th at Northlake Field.
Shelby Vermeulen scored two goals to lead the way. She now has 14 goals on the season.
After the early missed opportunities, LCC scored first on a Karen Gonzalez header from an
Emily Mickelson assist at the 24 minute mark.
LCC then came back at the 36 minute mark with a
Jessica Jude goal unassisted.
Vermeulen got her first goal at 55' from a McKenna Spillett assist.
Hailey Starnes scored unassisted at the 60 minute mark. Vermeulen then tallied another at 63' on a
Maddie McCallister helper.
The Gators scored a goal in stoppage time.

Kennedy Werner was again excellent in goal with nine saves.
LCC is now 6-4-1 in the West Region and 8-5-1 overall. The Devils remain two points behind Tacoma in the race for the third and final playoff spot.
LCC will have its final home match this Saturday October 20
th when the Grays Harbor Chokers come to Northlake Field. It's Sophomore Day and the match begins at 11:00 am.
