The Lower Columbia College softball team ran into a very good Southwestern Oregon squad on Saturday April 29
th.

Despite getting blown out 16-2, the Devils battled back and made it a close second game. The tying run was left at third in the 7
th inning and SWOCC completed the sweep with a 6-5 win.

Nothing went right in the first game as the Lakers scored five in the first and seven in the second and won going away in 4 ½ innings.

Jessica Gibson took the loss.

Shanay Dotson led LCC at the plate by going 2 for 3. Gibson drove in both LCC runs with a double.

Lower Columbia regrouped and gave the Lakers a good game in the nightcap.Â
Bailey Hockett hit a big two run double in the 7
th inning to get LCC within one but the rally would end there. Hockett had two doubles in the game.

Sam Boyce had an RBI single in the first inning.
Cheyenne Gilbertson hit a second inning sacrifice fly to give LCC a 2-0 lead.

SWOC took the lead for good with three runs in the 5
th inning. In the sixth, Dotson's single plated Hockett to get LCC within two runs.

Christine Robbins and
Aurora Gouley hit singles in the 7
th and came home on Hockett's double, only to fall short.

Taylor Brooks kept the team in the game with a good outing.

The Devils are now 9-9 in the South. They're game at Centralia on Monday May 1
st was rained out. The team will next travel to Grays Harbor on Wednesday May 3
rd.
