Two Damaging Innings Lead Clackamas To Sweep

The Clackamas Cougars came to Kelso on Saturday April 15th and used two big innings to fuel a double header sweep over the Red Devils 17-3 and 14-6.

In game one, the Cougars erased a 3-2 LCC lead by scoring 12 runs in the third inning alone.  Clackamas pitcher Haley Vandomelen checked the Red Devils on just three hits in the game shortened to five innings.

One of the hits was a two-run homer by LCC sophomore Bailey Hockett.

The Devils helped the Cougars in that game by committing five errors.

The second game was also close until some late game fireworks from the Cougars. The Devils had a 5-3 lead heading to the sixth when Clackamas scored eight runs in the inning.

Taylor Brooks had held down the Cougars until that sixth inning explosion. Clackamas hit four homers against LCC pitching.

Sam Boyce had a two run homer for LCC, one of her two hits.  Jessica Gibson also had two hits and Brianna Harvill drove in two runs.

The Devils are 6-6 in the South and 8-8 overall.

LCC will try and regroup when they host Mt. Hood in a key NWAC South Region double header on Tuesday April 18th. The first pitch at Heerensperger Field at Tam O'Shanter Park is set for 3 pm.
