The balls were flying in Pendleton on Wednesday March 23

The Lower Columbia softball team swept Blue Mountain by scores of 16-8 (6) and 10-9. With the road sweep, the Red Devils record is now 7-1 on the season.

In game one,
Bailey Hockett had a big game as she went 4 for 4 with three RBI's. Hockett, who is just getting back into softball after playing basketball at LCC, hit her first college home run.

Ashley Kelly was 3 for 5 with three RBI's.Â
Sam Boyce, also coming off a hoops season for LC, went 3-5 and
Mariah Mendez was 3 for 4.

Hannah Rothwell hit a three run bomb, part of a 2 for 3, five RBI game.Â
Jessica Gibson also hit a homer, her fifth in five games.

LCC had 20 hits in the game.

Krystina Fischer went the first three innings, allowing just one run.
Â
The offensive explosion continued in game two.

After a Gibson RBI single in the first, the Devils plated five runs on six hits in the second inning.Â
Nicole Bolasky hit a two-run triple and Kelly hit a laser beam two-run homer to center putting LCC on top 6-0.

Blue Mountain came back with four runs in the 2
nd and four runs in the 3
rd, taking an 8-6 lead. Fischer came on in relief in the 4
th and got a 4-6-3 double play to end the frame.

The Devils then came back with three runs in the 5
th, all with two outs, to retake the lead 9-8. They tacked on another run in the 6
th to take a 10-8 lead.

In the 7
th, the Devils gunned down the potential tying run at the plate with a great throw by Bolasky and an excellent tag by Boyce. Final score 10-9 Lower Columbia.

The Devils will have the home opener on Thursday March 24
th, a makeup DH against the Linfield JV's at Tam O'Shanter Park. Start time in 2 pm.
