Ashley Kelly's walk-off double in the 9th inning gave the LCC softball team a 5-4 victory over Clackamas on Tuesday April 21st.
The Cougars came back with a big six-run inning to key an 11-4 win over the Devils in the nightcap.
Kelly's heroics in the first game capped a great Red Devil team effort. Krystina Fischer pitched outstanding after rocky first inning when she gave up three runs. She went on to give up just one more run in the next eight innings. And Fischer got the game winning rally started with a 9th inning double. She raced home with the game winner on Kelly's big hit.
Fischer went nine innings, scattered 10 hits, and struck out four while walking just two.
Jenny Hagen had a huge game for the Devils. She went 3-4 at the plate with two RBI's and also played stellar defense at third base. Madison Barr and Maggie Harshaw each had RBI basehits.
The key inning for Clackamas in the second game was a six-run third inning off starter Julia Breidt. Bailey Ellis came on to seal the damage, but she too ran into problems against the talented Clackamas offense.
Chelsey Miller was a homerun shy of the cycle with a single, double and triple with two RBI. Nicole Bolasky, Kelly and Ellis each had two hits.
The Devils are now 5-5 in the ultra-tough South Division. The Devils will be back home on Saturday April 25th against Southwestern Oregon. The twin bill begins at 12 pm at Heerensperger Field, Tam O'Shanter Park in Kelso.
