The Lower Columbia offense could never get untracked as Southwestern Oregon swept a league opening double header in Coos Bay on Thursday April 2nd.
The Lakers took the first game 8-0 in a game shortened to six innings. Starter Bailey Ellis took the loss and reliever Julia Breidt also found the going tough.
Despite some early struggles, second game starter Krystina Fischer settled down and pitched a good game in the nightcap, a 3-2 Laker victory.
Chelsey Miller and Madison Barr had an RBI groundouts, but Laker pitching kept the Devils off balance.
LCC did get two runners on in the top of the 7th, but SWOCC closed the door.
The Devils are 0-2 in South Region play and return home for a double header Saturday against Clark. The first game at Heerensperger Field at Tam O'Shanter Park is set for 12 pm.
