Streaking Devils Take Two From Centralia

(Longview, WA) -- The Lower Columbia College baseball team ran its winning streak to 12 games by taking a pair of home games with Centralia on Thursday April 9th.

The pitching has been stringing zeros since league play began.  With a 7-0 shutout in the first game of Thursday's double header the LCC pitching staff ran its scoreless inning streak to 48 innings. Despite giving up a first inning run in the 10-1 nightcap victory, LCC ran its streak of not giving up an earned run to 57 innings.

Game One - Lower Columbia 7 Centralia 0

Graham Learing went 5 shutout innings to get the victory.  The right hander scattered six hits and struck out 9.

Lincoln Berg went three shutout innings and Cole Pentin closed out the shutout with a scoreless frame.

James Cote went 2 for 4 with two RBI's.  Karsten Hansen was 2 for 2 with two RBI's and two runs scored.  Keagan Kelly also had two RBI's.

Game Two - Lower Columbia 10 Centralia 1

The Trailblazers scored an unearned run in the first off Quinn Hubbs, snapping the long scoreless string.  But that is all the Blazers would get.

Hubbs went 5 innings allowing six hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Four Red Devil relievers were outstanding.  Hayden Line and Adam Jay each provided a scoreless frame.  Wyatt Macdonald struck out the side in a scoreless eighth. Harlan Rowe closed it out with a scoreless ninth.

The Devils had a big 5th inning, scoring five runs highlighted by the grand slam home run from Jackson Wendt.  With the bases loaded, Wendt drew what was deemed an RBI walk.  But there was an inquiry regarding the count and the official scorer reported the count was instead 3-2.  Wendt came back to plate and crushed his first homer of the season, a long blast to the left of the Story Field scoreboard.

Wendt finished the game 3 for 4 with five RBI's.  Jaylen Kennedy was 2 for 2 with an RBI.

The Devils raised the overall record to 27-7 including 12 straight victories.  The West Region record is 10-0 going into a double header at Centralia Saturday April 11th at 1 pm.
