LONGVIEW, WA. — The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team used a suffocating defense and a dominant performance on the glass to roll past the Centralia Trailblazers, 76-54, on Wednesday night at Myklebust Gymnasium.
With the win, the Red Devils improve to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in NWAC West Region play, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the region title.
Lower Columbia set the tone early, taking a 41-26 lead into halftime. The Devils' depth proved to be the difference-maker, as the LCC bench outscored Centralia's reserves by a massive 38-8 margin. The Devils also controlled the paint, winning the rebounding battle 49-24—more than doubling the Trailblazers' output on the boards.
Offensively, the Red Devils shot 46.0% from the field (29-of-63) while holding Centralia to just 33.9% shooting. The defense was particularly stingy beyond the arc, limiting the Trailblazers to just 3-of-19 (15.8%) from three-point range.
Dalton Stevens provided a huge spark off the bench to lead all scorers with 19 points, adding seven rebounds. Chance White was efficient from the floor, adding 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Shane Douma-Sanchez filled the stat sheet with 11 points, a game-high seven assists, and five steals, orchestrating the offense and disrupting Centralia's passing lanes all night.
