LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Lower Columbia Red Devils men's basketball team rang in the new year with a resounding 90-70 victory over the Shoreline Dolphins on Friday night at Myklebust Gymnasium. The win pushes Lower Columbia's record to an impressive 10-2 as they continue to build momentum ahead of NWAC play.
The Red Devils' offense was electric, led by the sharp shooting of James Grose, who poured in a game-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a sizzling 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He was joined in the backcourt explosion by Chance White, who added 19 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting night.
While the guards lit up the scoreboard, Lower Columbia controlled the interior with physical play. Noah Schow recorded a double-double, tallying 10 points and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Skyler Schmidt narrowly missed a double-double of his own, finishing with 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, proving to be a versatile playmaker for the Devils.
Shane Douma-Sanchez orchestrated the offense beautifully, chipping in 16 points while dishing out a team-high 5 assists. The Red Devils' depth was also on full display, as Kenyan Jackman-Thomas provided a massive spark off the bench with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Lower Columbia set the tone early, taking a 43-28 lead into halftime behind 52.9% shooting from three-point range in the opening period. They maintained the pressure in the second half, shooting 53.3% from the field to close out the Dolphins.
Shoreline (6-7) struggled to keep pace with LCC's balanced attack. Adrian Peev led the Dolphins with 15 points, while Justin Phipps added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Despite their efforts, Shoreline was dominated on the glass, losing the rebounding battle 40-25.
