Friday, March 22
Game 1
Lower Columbia edged out Big Bend 3-1 at David Story Field.
The Red Devils capitalized on timely hitting and strong pitching to secure the win. Offensively, Lower Columbia was patient at the plate, drawing seven walks and collecting key hits. Despite only one recorded hit in the game, they made the most of their opportunities, pushing across three runs. On the mound, Stephen Hammergren earned the win in relief, pitching the final three innings. Hammergren limited Big Bend to just one run on one hit. Chayse Oxborrow got the start on the hill for the Devils throwing 6 innings with 4 SO, 2 hits, and 2 walks.
The loss was charged to Big Bend's Brendan McKinley, who allowed two runs (earned), walked three, and struck out 4.Â
Game 2
Lower Columbia completed the sweep of the day with a convincing 6-2 victory over Big Bend.
The Devils' offense came alive, recording ten hits and drawing five walks. Leading the charge was a balanced lineup that pressured Big Bend's pitching throughout the game.
Brayden Oram went 3 for 4 with two runs. Owen Cummins was 2 for 4 with a run and 3 RBI's.Â
The Vikings Camron Fleck provided the game's biggest swing, launching a home run and finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI.
On the mound, Lower Columbia's pitching held Big Bend to just four hits, with the winning pitcher, Kaden Larson, effectively keeping the Vikings' offense in check. Larson went 4 innings with 2 SO, 3 hits, 1 run, and 2 walks.
Chase Kreuger finihed the final three innings striking out 1, allowing only 1 hit and 1 run.Â
Big Bend's Garin Gurtler took the loss after surrendering two earned runs over two innings of work.
Saturday, March 23
Game 1
Lower Columbia continued its dominant start to the season with a 10-7 victory over Big Bend at Story Field on March 23. The Red Devils' offense was firing on all cylinders, racking up 15 hits and scoring in four different innings to secure the win.
Leading the charge at the plate was Jace Nagler, who went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Owen Cummins also had a big game, going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs. Harlan Rowe contributed with an RBI and a stolen base, while Sam Davidson executed a perfect sacrifice bunt. The Red Devils showcased their speed on the base paths with four stolen bases, two coming from Brayden Oram.
On the mound, Lower Columbia's pitching staff battled through some challenges but did enough to hold off Big Bend's offense. Quinn Hubbs started and went three innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits while striking out four. The bullpen took over from there, with Kaden Harris earning the win throwing 4.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits with 1 strike out. Matthew Kosderka earned the save going three up three down in the 9th to complete the win. The Red Devils' pitching staff totaled five strikeouts on the day.
Big Bend's Jesse Brown took the loss after giving up four runs over two innings with 6 hits.
Game 2
The Red Devils pitching struggled in the fourth game of the series giving up 10 runs on 5 hits with 14 walks. The Vikings took advantage and headed home with a 10-3 win to deni the Devils a series sweep.
Big Bends Talan Wright earned the win throwing 2.2 innings with two strike outs, allowing 2 hits, and walking one. Wyatt Macdonald was credit with the loss for LCC having gone 2.1 innings, giving up 6 runs on 2 hits, with 5 walks and a strike out.
Devils had opportunities offensively with 6 hits but were unable to capitalize as they stranded 10 runners on base.Â
Harlan Rowe went 2-for-4 with and rbi.
Sam Davidson went 1-for-2 with a run.
Owen Cummins was 1-for-1 with an rbi.Â
The Red Devils finish non-league play 22-2 record and are in first place in the west region standings.
LCC begins league play on Saturday, March 29, on the road at the Grays Harbor Chokers. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam, WA.
