(Longview, WA) -- The Lower Columbia College baseball team kept its season unbeaten, but it took some
Brayden Oram heroics to get it done.
On Sunday March 9th, Oram hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Red Devils a 3-2 win over Spokane in the first game of the double header. The Devils then followed that with a 1-0 victory in game two, extending the season opening win streak to 14 games.
Saturday, LCC took a pair of victories over Spokane 5-3 and 7-5.
GAME ONE - Saturday March 8th - LOWER COLUMBIA 5 SPOKANE 3
Three LCC pitchers combined to allow just two earned runs on seven hits.Â
Chayse Oxborrow scattered six hits allowing three runs (two earned). The bullpen was money as
Chase Kreuger went four shutout innings allowing just one hit to get the victory.Â
Matthew Kosderka came on in the ninth to get his 5th save of the season.
Sam Davidson had two hits, two walks and two RBI's to lead the LCC offense.
GAME TWO - Saturday March 8th - LOWER COLUMBIA 7 SPOKANE 5
The Devil Bullpen came through again as
Kaden Harris got the win with three innings of scoreless relief and then
Stephen Hammergren closed the door by striking out the side in the top of the ninth. Starter Caden Spainier went five innings and gave up five runs and nine hits in five innings of work.
Jace Nagler had three hits including an RBI double. Davidson had a single, an RBI and two walks.Â
Harlan Rowe and
Blake Mattern each had RBI singles.
GAME THREE - Sunday March 9th- LOWER COLUMBIA 3 SPOKANE 2
The Devils were down 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth inning when Davidson opened the frame with a single. Nagler sacrificed Davidson to second and that set the stage for Oram. He turned on a Braiden Boyd pitch and hit it out to left, triggering another LCC celebration. I't the 4th walk-off win of the season so far.
LCC was held to just three hits in the game. The Devils scored on an Aiden Horsely squeeze bunt in the 6th inning.
Quinn Hubbs went six innings for LCC, allowing just two runs and six hits.Â
Dante Santulli was great in relief allowing just one hit in three innings. Santulli was the winner.
GAME FOUR - Sunday March 9th - LOWER COLUMBIA 1 SPOKANE 0
The pitchers dominated the series finale. Spokane's Tyler Alm and David Barnes allowed just two hits combined with seven strikeouts. LCC got the run they would need in the fifth inning. Mattern doubled and advanced to third on a ground out. He then came home on a wild pitch.
The LCC pitching staff made it hold up. Starter
Harlan Rowe allowed just two hits in four innings.Â
Josh Mejia got the win when he escaped a bases loaded jam with a fly ball out.
Ryan McClaskey worked around a walk with a scoreless sixth inning.
Kaden Larson got the save with a clean seventh.
The Red Devils are 14-0 on the season and will have a busy weekend at home. LCC will host Edmonds for a 1 pm DH on Friday March 14th. Saturday will feature three games as Edmonds takes on Columbia Basin at 12 pm. LCC will play Edmonds at 3 pm and then the Devils and Columbia Basin play at 6 pm. Sunday will feature a double header with Columbia Basin and Lower Columbia at 12 pm.
