Devils Open the Season with a sweep of Chemeketa

GAME ONE
(Longview, WA) The Lower Columbia Red Devils secured a hard-fought 3-2 extra-inning victory over the Chemeketa Storm in an 11-inning battle at David Story Field in Longview, Washington. In a game that featured dominant pitching and timely hitting, the Red Devils managed to push across the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th to walk off with the win.

Leading the offensive charge for Lower Columbia was designated hitter Jace Nagler, who had a stellar performance at the plate, going 4-for-6 including an RBI double to earn the walk off win. Second baseman Brayden Oram also delivered, going 2-for-6 with a double and a stolen base. First baseman Dossen Morrow contributed by reaching base three times, finishing 1-for-4 with two walks and a stolen base. Outfielders Owen Cummins and Matthew Bailey each added doubles, as Lower Columbia consistently put pressure on Chemeketa's pitching staff.

On the mound, Kaden Harris earned the win for Lower Columbia after shutting down Chemeketa in extra innings. The Red Devils' pitching staff combined to hold the Storm to just five hits over 11 innings, striking out four while stranding four Chemeketa runners on base.

For the Storm, L. Kreisberg provided the lone offensive spark, crushing a solo home run to keep Chemeketa in the game. B. Hubble added a double, but the team struggled to generate offense against Lower Columbia's deep bullpen.

The losing pitcher was L. Hornback, who surrendered the deciding run in the bottom of the 11th. Chemeketa's pitching staff put up a strong fight, throwing a combined 200 pitches and keeping the Red Devils from capitalizing on multiple scoring opportunities, but ultimately fell short.

Despite committing two errors, Lower Columbia's defense held strong in key moments, securing the win in front of 216 fans on a cool, cloudy day with a temperature of 48 degrees. The game lasted 2 hours and 50 minutes, as the Red Devils improved their record with a dramatic extra-inning victory.

GAME TWO

The Lower Columbia Red Devils continued their strong start to the season with a 3-1 victory over the Chemeketa Storm in the second game of their doubleheader at David Story Field in Longview, Washington. Behind timely hitting and dominant pitching, the Red Devils took control of the game in the later innings and never looked back.

Lower Columbia's offense tallied 10 hits, with catcher Matthew Bailey playing a key role, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Center fielder Karsten Hansen also had a solid performance, finishing 2-for-3. Infielder Brayden Oram and first baseman Dossen Morrow each contributed with a hit and a run scored, while Sam Davidson added a hit and a stolen base. The Red Devils scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to gradually build their lead.

On the mound, starting pitcher Quinn Hubbs was outstanding, tossing seven strong innings while allowing just three hits and one earned run. He struck out four and issued three walks, keeping the Chemeketa offense in check throughout. Hubbs efficiently navigated through the Storm lineup, throwing 99 pitches, 62 of which were strikes, to earn the victory. Matthew Kosderka finished out the 7th inning striking out the Storms final batter to earn the save.

Chemeketa struggled to generate offense, managing just three hits in the contest. Designated hitter L. Kreisberg provided the Storm's only extra-base hit with a double, while B. Hubble drove in their lone run. Starting pitcher J. Bolstad took the loss despite a solid effort, allowing two earned runs on six hits over five innings.

Lower Columbia's defense remained sharp, playing error-free baseball while also turning a double play. The Red Devils left six runners on base but made the most of their opportunities, securing the win in a game that lasted just 1 hour and 35 minutes.

With the win, Lower Columbia improved to 2-0 on the season, capping off a successful doubleheader sweep in front of 116 fans on a cool, cloudy 49-degree afternoon.
