(Tacoma, WA) Lower Columbia dominated Tacoma in a convincing 71-44 road victory on February 19. The Red Devils built an early lead and never looked back, holding Tacoma to just six points in the final quarter.
Reigha Niemeyer led Lower Columbia with 17 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and hitting all five of her free throws.
Karlee VonMoos contributed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while also recording four steals. Maris Baklund added 13 points, three assists, and one steal.
The Red Devils shot 43.5% from the field, despite struggling from three-point range at 21.4%. Their defense forced 23 turnovers, leading to 24 points off those mistakes.
Tacoma, now 1-24 on the season, was led by Braedyn Grasty, who scored 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds. Aaliyah Clemons also put in a strong effort with 10 points and seven steals. However, the Titans shot just 34% from the field and 16.7% from deep, unable to keep pace with Lower Columbia's relentless attack.
The Red Devils asserted their dominance in the paint with 48 points and out-rebounded Tacoma 47-27. They also controlled the pace with 22 fast-break points. Lower Columbia extended their strong conference record to 10-1 and will look to carry this momentum into their final matchup of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 12:00 pm vs the Highline Thunderbirds, in Des Moines, WA.Â
