Devils Dominate on the Road with Sweep Over Tacoma

TACOMA, WA - The Lower Columbia College volleyball team put on a powerful display Wednesday night, Oct. 8, traveling to Tacoma and securing a decisive 3-0 sweep over the Titans. The Red Devils were firing on all cylinders, winning with set scores of 26-24, 25-17, and 25-19.

The Red Devils' attack was relentless, led by an outstanding performance from Kendall Humphrey. She tallied a match-high 14 kills on an incredible .448 hitting percentage and added two service aces for a total of 16 points. Not far behind was Claire Neuman, who was a force at the net with 12 kills and two key blocks, contributing 15 points to the victory.

The offense ran smoothly thanks to setter Karissa Otterstetter, who masterfully orchestrated the attack with 31 assists. As a team, the Red Devils were incredibly efficient, finishing the match with a stellar .357 hitting percentage.

The opening set was a hard-fought battle, with both teams trading points. The Red Devils showed their grit and composure, pulling out a tight 26-24 win to set the tone. From there, LCC took complete control. They jumped out to a significant lead in the second set and never looked back, cruising to a 25-17 victory.

With all the momentum on their side, the Devils closed out the match with a convincing 25-19 win in the third set to complete the sweep and secure the important league victory on the road.

On the defensive end, libero Lillian Halberg was everywhere, leading the team with 16 digs. Humphrey and Neuman also played crucial roles in the back row, chipping in with 8 digs apiece. In total, the Red Devils' defense recorded 52 digs in just three sets, frustrating the Tacoma hitters all evening.

The Devils (4-1) are currently tied for second in the west standing with Highline (4-1).
