LAKEWOOD, WA – The Lower Columbia College Red Devils volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on the road Friday night, sweeping the Pierce College Raiders in three decisive sets (25-6, 25-10, 25-9). The victory improves the Red Devils' conference record to an impressive 3-1.
From the first serve, LCC was in complete control, showcasing a powerful and efficient offense that the Raiders had no answer for. The Red Devils posted an outstanding .373 team hitting percentage, committing only four attack errors in the entire match.
Leading the offensive charge was outside hitter Kendall Humphrey, who tallied a match-high 10 kills with a .450 hitting percentage. Close behind was Claire Neuman with 9 kills and Irene Martinez, who was nearly perfect on the night, registering 8 kills on just 11 attempts for a stunning .727 hitting percentage.
Setter Karissa Otterstetter orchestrated the high-powered offense masterfully, dishing out 23 assists while also contributing 4 kills and 2 service aces.
The Red Devils were just as dominant from the service line, racking up 13 aces as a team. Libero Kamryn Sande and setter Allison Orantes led the way with 3 aces apiece. Sande also anchored the defense, leading all players with 13 digs.
The tone was set early in the first set, as LCC jumped out to a huge lead and never looked back, winning 25-6. The momentum carried through the next two sets, with the Red Devils overwhelming the Raiders with relentless pressure to secure the 25-10 and 25-9 victories and complete the swift sweep.
Claire Neuman finished with a team-high 12 points, adding two aces, a solo block, and 7 digs to her 9 kills for a fantastic all-around performance.
The win moves the Red Devils to 7-8 on the season, 3-1 in conference play.
Devils are on the road again this Wednesday, October 8th, with a 7:00 pm match at Tacoma.
