(Tukwila, WA) – The Lower Columbia women's soccer team got the season off to a great start with a 4-0 victory over Yakima Valley at the NWAC Friendlies in Tukwila on Tuesday August 20
th.
Alexia Valdez and
Rhyli Grim each scored a goal and collected an assist as the Red Devil dominated from the start.
Valdez opened the scoring with a goal two minutes into the match.
Ava Young had the assist as the Devils got things underway quickly.
Freshman
Kari Pate took a pass from Grim and scored at the 27 minute mark. The score was 2-0 at the half.
LCC didn't waste any time in the second half as
Joely Renk hit the net on a Valdez assist inside the first minute.
Grim then capped off the day with an unassisted goal at the 50' mark.
LCC outshot Yakima Valley 19-8 and 10-3 on goal. The Devils also led in corner kicks 6-1.
Goalkeeper
Jade Goulding had a clean sheet. She got plenty of help as the back line didn't give up much. Goulding had three saves.
Transfer
Brooke Richardson was handed a red card late in the match after it was ruled she pulled down an attacking player as the last defender on a scoring opportunity.
After four scrimmage wins, the Devils kept things going into the regular season. They will play Everett at 4 pm Wednesday August 21
st, also at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila.
Everett defeated Blue Mountain 1-0 on Tuesday.
