Game Recap: Softball |

Many Runs And Alot Of Fun In Vancouver

(Vancouver, WA) – Lower Columbia had every player on the roster contribute to a double header sweep against Clark on Saturday April 6th.

The games were moved to the turf of Fort Vancouver High School and the Devils took advantage of a depleted Clark Penguins pitching staff accounting for 51 runs on 31 hits.

Game One – Lower Columbia 17 Clark 2

Alexis Keaveny made her first collegiate start a memorable one. She walloped a grand slam homer to cap a six run first inning. Lexi Grumbois had started off the game with a solo dinger. Keaveny drove in a college career-high five runs in the game.

The hits kept coming after that.

Sawyer Stenson had three homers in the game. Her bombs brought home five runs.  It was Stenson's 14th homer, tied with Kennedy Hobson of North Idaho for the conference lead.  Stenson also leads the NWAC with 48 RBI's.

Leanna Russell also went deep.

All of that offense backed up Teeghan Reams who went five innings allowing just four hits and one earned run.

Game Two – Lower Columbia 34 Clark 1

LCC scored 10 runs in the first inning and the rout was on.

Karlee VonMoos had a mammoth game with two homers and eight RBI's. The damage was all in the 4th inning as VonMoos unloaded a three run shot and followed with a grand slam later in the inning.

There were plenty of hitting stars in this one. Bella Aspaas was 4 for 6 with five RBI's.  Grumbois was 4 for 5 with four RBI's. Grumpy is second in NWAC batting average at .579, although the leader Clare VanSpall of Douglas has 44 less at-bats.

Kaydence Mackin was 2 for 4 with two RBI's.  Ella Dillon was 2 for 2 with five runs scored.  Maliyah Twitty had two hits. Brooklyn Loose drove in four runs.

Sadie Knutson got the win with three innings and no earned runs.  Alli Heater worked two frames and gave up just one hit.

The Devils have won five straight as they get ready for a doubleheader at Grays Harbor on Wednesday April 10th.  Game time is at 3 pm in Aberdeen.

LCC is 13-3 in the South (second place) and 24-8 overall.
