Devils Win Streak At 16

(Salem, OR) – The Lower Columbia College softball team continued its torrid hitting after taking two games at Chemeketa by scores of 15-5 and 17-2 on Saturday April 27th.
 
The Red Devils have won 16 straight games and remain tied with Mt. Hood for first place in the NWAC South Region.
 
Game One- Lower Columbia 15 Chemeketa 5 (5 innings)
 
Teeghan Reams got it done with her arm and her bat. The LCC sophomore pitched a five inning complete game, allowing five runs (3 earned) with three walks and four strikeouts.
 
Reams led a 13-hit attack by going 3 for 4 with a double and four RBI's.
 
LCC shortstop Bella Aspaas had a big game going 3 for 4 with three RBI's and three runs scored. Aspaas hit a three-run homer in the 4th inning, a six run frame that also included a two run double by Karlee VonMoos and a two-run triple by Joelie Eder.
 
The Devils got the offense cranked up in the third inning when Reams hit a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double.
 
Brooklyn Loose also drove in two runs with a double in the 5th inning.
 
Game Two – Lower Columbia 17 Chemeketa 2 (5 innings)
 
The Devils didn't waste anytime in this one as they scored 10 runs in the first two innings.
 
In the first, Lexi Grumbois led off the game with a single and then came home on a Leanna Russell double.  VonMoos then smacked an RBI double followed by a Loose sac fly.
 
LCC scored seven runs on six hits in the second inning.  Grumbois plated two on a double, Raychel Squibb hit an RBI double, VonMoos had a run scoring double.  Kaydence Mackin then capped off the uprising with a solo homer.
 
Sadie Knutson put in three innings of work with 4 strike outs and walk. Alli Heater came in, in relief, in the 4th giving up just three hits and two runs. Knutson earned her 7th win of the year. 
 
The Devils put up six more runs in the 4th. Maliyah Twitty hit the ball into the teeth of the wind and just missed a homer. Her triple drove in a run.  Squibb followed with an RBI single and then Alli Heater drove in a pair with a double.
 
Grumbois was 4 for 4 with four runs and two RBI's.  Squibb was 2 for 3 with three ribbies.  Aspaas drove in two.
 
Eight of the Devils 15 hits were fort extra bases.
 
With the sweep, Lower Columbia remains tied with Mt. Hood for first place in the South Region, both teams 19-3.
 
LCC will travel to Oregon City for a double header at Clackamas on Tuesday April 30th.  The first game begins at 2 pm.
