Devils take The Wind Out Of The Clippers Sails

(Olympia, WA) It was a defensive win for the Red Devils as they forced 29 Clippers turnovers along with stealing it 12 times, leading to a 67-51 win over the South Puget Sound Clippers on Wednesday, February 14. 

The Devils got off to a slow start in Olympia hitting only 5 shots for 7 points in the 1st quarter. The shooting improved in the second quarter with Lower Columbia putting up 20 points while holding the Clippers to 11. Devils held a 5 point lead at the half, 27-22, over South Puget. 

LCC held steady in the second half and never let SPSCC get into a groove with constant pressure in the back court and dominating the offensive boards. Devils pulled down 20 offensive rebounds to the Clippers 6. The Devils outscored the Clippers 40 to 29 in the second half to secure the win. 

Bailee Larson lead the Devils with 19 pts, 5 rebounds, 4 assist, and 3 steals.

Kayla Kasubuchi had a big night with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. 

Payton Torrey was outstanding with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Morgan Hamilton, Reigha Niemeyer, and Maris Baklund put up 6 points each. Hamilton also pulled down 6 boards and had 2 blocks.

Karlee VonMoos was big on the inside for the Devils coming up with 12 rebounds on the night and 5 points. 


The win puts the Red Devils at 7-1 in the west. 

Next up is another road game on Saturday, February 17, in Lakewood, WA vs the Pierce Raiders at 5:00 pm.
