Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Devils Make It Nine Matches With Zero goals Allowed

(Tacoma, WA) Lower Columbia emerged victorious with a commanding 4-0 win against Tacoma in a decisive soccer match on October 2, 2024, held in Tacoma, Washington.

From the outset, Lower Columbia set the pace, controlling the game's tempo and demonstrating superior offensive power. The first goal came early, at 13:42 in the first half, when Shakira Nolasco scored with an assist from Avery Kimball, giving the Devils a 1-0 lead. Their defense remained tight, and goalkeeper Jade Goulding didn't face much action but made a crucial save late in the match.

In the second half, Lower Columbia ramped up the pressure. Kari Pate scored twice, with her first goal coming at 62:56, again assisted by Kimball, marking Kimball's second assist of the day. Pate's clinical performance in front of the net cemented her as one of the key players. Another standout moment was Angelina Hopwood's goal at 80:49, assisted by Alexia Valdez, showing a fluid offensive teamwork that Tacoma struggled to contain.

The Red Devils ability to maintain constant pressure was evident as they outshot Tacoma 18-1, with 13 shots on goal. The Titans defense, particularly their goalkeeper Savannah Anderson, managed to make 8 saves but couldn't stop the relentless attack from Lower Columbia. The final goal came in the 88th minute, with Pate netting her second of the match, assisted by Maddie Kohout, sealing the 4-0 victory.

Lower Columbia's defense also held firm, allowing only a single shot on goal, which Goulding easily handled. This dominant performance extended Lower Columbia's unbeaten record to 9-0, showcasing their strength as a top contender in the league.

Next up for the Red Devils is a home match on Saturday, October 5th, vs the Clark Penguins. Match is set for a 12:00 pm start.

Also, a big congratulations to Alexia Valdez who received NWAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time.
Valdez wins her second Offensive Player of the Week award as she scored a first-half hat trick against No. 8 Centralia in a 6-0 victory. The Red Devils moved to 7-0 with the win, starting the season with an impressive seven-straight shutouts, outscoring opponents 39-0 heading into this week.
