(Centralia, WA) The Centralia Trailblazer had their best shooting night of the young season but it wasn't enough as the Red Devils headed home with the 83-72 win on Wednesday, January 24.
Lower Columbia was on their heels to start the match as Centralia seemed to hit everything they throw up in the 1st quarter. Mean while the Devils were struggling to find their rhythm hitting only 18% from the floor. The score at the end of the 1st was 14-21 Centralia.
During the quarter break, Coach Myers made his adjustments, and the Devils came out a different team. Shooting 67% from the floor (12-18), 57% from the 3pt arc (4-7), and 100% from the FT line (2-2). In all the Devils put up 30 points in the 2nd quarter to Centralia's 13, taking a 44-34 lead into the locker room at the half.
The second half saw things settle down a bit for both teams with the Red Devils getting up by as much as 16 in the 3rd quarter but the Trailblazers cut that lead to only 6 with 2:32 to go in the 4th quarter. But that would be it for the come back as the Red Devils held on for the 83-72 win.
The win puts Lower Columbia at 4-0 in the west and in sole position of the top spot.
Bailee Larson put up 17 pts with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Kayla Kasubuchi also put 17 pts and pulled down 6 boards.
Morgan Hamilton had 13 points on the night.
Reigha Niemeyer added 11 pts.
Maris Baklund had a great night with 10 points.
Karlee VonMoos was one point shy of a double-double hitting 9 points and 10 boards.
Payton Torrey also added 6 pts, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Madison Gore the lead the Trailblazers with 29 points and 6 rebounds.
The Red Devils are back in action on Saturday, January 27, vs Highline at Myklebust gym in Longview, WA. Tip it set for 5:00 pm.
