(Longview, WA) It was cold outside but the Red Devils were on fire at Myklebust gym on Thursday night as they defeated South Puget Sound Clippers 78-45.
Lower Columbia came out hot putting up 27 points in the first quarter; hitting 55% from the floor, 33.3% from the 3pt arch, and 60% from the free throw line to start the game.
The Red Devils never took their foot off the gas from there, pressing the Clippers forcing turnovers and poor shot selections. LCC held the Clippers to only 29 points in the first half taking a 44-29 lead into the locker room.
The second half was much the same as the Devils defense didn't let up holding the Clippers to only 17 points in the half.
It was a game of free throw shooting much of the time as the Devils went to the line 34 times and the Clippers 33 with a total of 56 fouls called on the night.
Bailee Larson led the red Devils with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 9 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.
Morgan Hamilton was outstanding with 14 points, 5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals.
Payton Torrey came off the bench to add 13 points.
Kayla Kasubuchi had 12 points on the night with 4 assists.
Karlee VonMoss was huge on the inside with 17 boards and added 8 points.
Mia Rodriguez was the top scorer for the Clippers with 13 points
Lower Columbia finished the night with 35.2% Field Goal shooting, 20.8% from the arch, and 67.6% from the charity stripe.
