(Longview, WA) –
Kaylee Slade scored a goal.
The Lower Columbia College sophomore has plenty of talent and has been a standout in youth soccer and high school before becoming an important teammate at LCC. But she had never scored a goal at any level.
Until now.
The Devils hosted NAIA Bushnell University on Tuesday September 12
th and the home team found themselves down 1-0 at halftime. That's when Slade scored on a
Rhyli Grim assist at the 61' mark to tie up the game. Slade's teammates went crazy in support for her milestone goal.
Then LCC started cashing in. Grim scored at 67' to give the Devils their first lead. The goal came on an
Adalie Schierscher assist.
One minute later, Schierscher scored on a
Maddie Kohout assist and the Devils went on to a 3-1 victory.
The Devils dominated the action despite trailing for the first 45 minutes. LCC outshot Bushnell 20-5. The Devils also led in corner kick opportunities 7-1.
LCC goes to 3-4-1 overall, 1-1-0 in West Region play. The Devils return to league play on Saturday September 16
th when they travel to Centralia for a 2 pm game at the new Blazer on-campus facility.
