(Bremerton, WA) – The Lower Columbia College baseball team dominated the West Region opening weekend, outscoring Olympic 38-3 in the first three games played. But a fierce hail storm halted the series final on Sunday with the Devils leading 5-1 in the top of the 4
th inning. The game will be resumed at a date and time to be determined.
The doubleheader at Story Field on Saturday April 1
st was no joke for LCC. The Devils defeated Olympic 17-0 in the first game and 11-1 in the nightcap. Both games were shortened due to the 10-run rule.
Sunday's action was at Central Kitsap High School and LCC won the first game 10-2.
Game #1 at Story Field
Lower Columbia 17 Olympic 0 (7 innings)
Kyle Parkman got the league season off to a great start when he blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the first inning.
The Devils continued to add on and a seven run 4
th inning turned the game into a blowout. The big frame featured two bases loaded hit by pitches, a bases load walk, and RBI singles from
Wren Cecil and
Tyler Peterson. Parkman added two more on a single to cap the seven run frame.
The offense was in support of starter
Michael Schwarz who pitched five innings of two-hit ball. Schwarz struck out five.
Jake Smith gave up a single and struck out two in a scoreless 6
th.
Austin Sheldon closed it out with a perfect 7
th.
Lower Columbia had 13 hits in the game. Parkman led the way going 3 for 3 with six RBI's.
Matthew Lewis was 2 for 3 with two RBI's. Peterson had two hits and two RBI's.

Game #2 at Story Field
Lower Columbia 11 Olympic 1
The Devils actually came from behind to win Saturday's second game. The Rangers scored in the first inning on a double play ground out. It was all Red Devils after that.
Easton Amundson got the Devils on the board with a three-run homer in the bottom of the third.
Lower Columbia then had another seven run inning in the 4
th with the big hit a two-run double from Stransky. Cecil also had a two-run single in the inning.
Braeden Munger got the win. He had to work around six walks but allowed just the one run in 4 2/3 innings. Munger struck out seven Rangers. Camdem Oram came on to get the final out via a strikeout.

Lower Columbia 10 Olympic 2
Starter
Owen Luchies got some early offensive support and cruised to the victory. Luchies went four hitless innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
LCC scored four runs in the top of the 1
st. Parkman had an RBI single, Oram worked a bases loaded walk and Cecil drove in a pair with a single to centerfield.
Three more runs came around in the 4
th inning highlighted by Parkman's two run single. Peterson plated two runs with a double in the top of the 5
th.
Parkman was 2 for 5 with three RBI's. Reese was 3 for 5 with a ribbie.
Joey Pearson went two innings in relief of Luchies allowing three hits and two runs.
Aaron Platner gave up just one hit in two scoreless frames.
Mac Elske finished it off with a scoreless inning.
Game #4 at Central Kitsap High School
Lower Columbia 5 Olympic 1 (Game halted in the top of the 4th inning)
Miller's sac fly, Lewis' two run single and
Nate Gray Jr.'s two run single accounted for the LCC scoring before the hail storm hit.
Brayden Wells went three innings on the mound and allowed two hits a one run.
The Devils return to league play when they host the Clark Penguins on Friday April 7
th. The double header begins at 4 pm at Story Field. The two teams will then meet for a 1 pm twin bill on Saturday April 8
th in Vancouver.
