(Lacey, WA) – It took 16 days to complete, but it was worth the wait.
The Lower Columbia baseball team resumed a game with Olympic on Tuesday April 19
th in Lacey. With a 5-1 lead in the third inning on Sunday April 2
nd, the Devils and Rangers had to halt the game due to a fierce hail storm.
Once the game resumed at the RAC Complex in Lacey, Olympic got hit with a hail storm of hits.
Lower Columbia 16 Olympic 3 (6 innings)
In the top of the 4
th, LCC plated four runs on three hits and an Olympic error.
Easton Amundson had the big hit in the frame with a 2-run single.
After another run in the top of the 5
th LCC took a 10-1 lead after 4 ½. The 6
th was all Red Devils as they scored six runs on four hits.
Nick Miller and
Gunnar Shiotani had RBI singles. Amundson had the knockout blow with a three run double.
When the game was finally completed, the box score showed
Kyle Parkman going 4 for 4. Amundson went 2 for 3 with five RBI's.
Nate Gray Jr. was 2 for 2 with two RBI's and two runs scored. Miller and
Matthew Lewis had two RBI's each.
Brayden Wells, who went three innings back on April 2
nd, got the victory.
Camden Oram went one scoreless inning.
Josiah Shubert gave up two hits and two runs in the 5
th.
Jadon Williamson was impressive in closing the door with a perfect 6
th including two strikeouts.
With the long awaited victory, the Devils go to 7-1 in West Region play, 21-11 overall.
That sets up a huge four-game series with Tacoma, also 7-1 in league. The teams meet Saturday April 22
nd in Longview, a 12 pm double header at Story Field. The scene shifts to Minnitti Field in Tacoma for a 1 pm DH on Sunday April 23
rd.
