(Kelso, WA) – The Lower Columbia softball team came up with back-to-back three-hit shutouts in a doubleheader sweep over Chemeketa on Saturday April 22
nd.
Alli Heater went the distance in the first game, a three hit shutout in a 4-0 victory.
Heater was in control from the outset allowing just three singles. The freshman righthander gave up just one free pass and struck out seven.
Heater helped herself with a big two-run single in the 4
th inning. After
Teeghan Reams and
Raychel Squibb doubled, Heater got the big hit to give LCC a 3-0 lead.
Squibb then closed out the scoring with a solo homer in the 6
th. Squibb went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Devils wasted no time in the second game scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first on the way to a 12-0 victory.
LCC had eight hits in the first inning explosion including Reams three-run homer, a two run single from
Kennedy Williams and
Sunny Bennion's three-run blast.
Reams got the start and gave up just one hit in three innings of work.
Sadie Knutson closed it out with two innings of shutout ball allowing just two singles.
Reams went 2 for 3 with five RBI's. Bennion was 3 for 3 with four RBI's and three runs scored.
Leanna Russell was 3 for 3 with an RBI.
The Devils are 10-6 in the South Region, 17-13 overall.
LCC will travel to Grays Harbor for a 3 pm doubleheader on Wednesday April 26
th. The team then hosts Centralia for a 3 pm doubleheader Thursday April 27
th at Tam O'Shanter Park.
