Devils Open Series With Sweep At Edmonds

(Edmonds, WA) – The Lower Columbia Red Devils opened up a four game series by taking two games in Edmonds on Friday March 17th.

Game #1: LCC 5 Edmonds 3 (10 innings)

The Devils thought they had this game locked up in regulation. Down to their last strike, Edmonds got a favorable check swing call to keep the game alive.  Down to their last strike again, Edmonds shortstop Mason Persons got a clutch hit up the middle to tie the game at 3-3.

LCC didn't flinch.  With Carson Hayes placed on second in the extra innings rule, Tyler Peterson hit an RBI double to put the Devils back on top.  Easton Amundson then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3.

With two runners on and one out, LCC pitcher Camdem Oram got a flyout and groundout to end the game.  Oram was tough in relief going six innings to get the victory.  Oram gave up four hits and just one run.

Starter Owen Luchies went four innings allowing two runs on six hits.

Justin Stransky went 3 for 5 with an RBI.  Peterson was 3 for 5 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.  Hayes was 1 for 4 with two runs scored.

Game #2: LCC 5 Edmonds 4

The Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a half inning when Easton Amundson hit an RBI double and Cayden Wotipka followed up with a run-scoring single. LCC added another run in the top of the second.

Starter Brayden Wells was solid in the first two frames until he lost his command in the third.  After two outs, Wells walked four straight batters. He then walked the lead off batter in the 4th and was pulled for reliever Carson Kruckman.  Kruckman walked the first batter he faced and then gave up two run-scoring singles as the Tritons tied up the game 3-3.

The Devils regained the lead on a Justin Stransky two-run home run over the left field fence.  It was the third homer of the year for the Red Devil catcher.

Kruckman got the win in relief as he worked around four walks.

Noah Imboden came on in the 8th and locked it down for his first college save.

The Devils and Tritons will turn around and play two at Story Field on Saturday March 18th.  The action begins at 12 pm.
