(Longview, WA) Red Devils baseball finish the Edmonds series 3-1 after a split of the days action at Story Field on Saturday, March 18.
Devils baseball had hoped to give coach Lupinksi and series sweep as a baby gift for the new father but the Edmonds Tritons had other plans.
Game #1 LCC 2 EDCC 6
LCC stranded 8 runners on base in the 6-2 loss to Edmonds in game one on Saturday.Â
Edmonds plated 2 runs in the 3rd, 5th, and 8th innings and that was more than enough to as the Tritons pitchers combined only allowed 6 Devils hits.Â
Easton Amundson lead the Devils going 2 for 4 at the plate with an rbi triple in the 6th and a solo home run in the 8th, accounting for the only runs scored by LCC. Â
Nick Miller was 1 for 2 with a double.Â
Michael Schwarz pitch 5 innings with 7 SO, 2 BB, and 8 hits
Joey Pearson pitched three innings of relieve with 5 SO, 1BB, and 3 hits
Aaron Platner closed it out with 1 inning of work getting 1 SO, 1HBP, and 1 hit
Edmonds, J. Flaugher got the W with 6 IP, ringing up 3, 1 BB, 1 HBP, and only 3 hits.Â
Game #2 LCC 6 EDCC 5
Game two on the day was a different story for the Devils has they out hit the Tritons 8 to 5 but it still game down to wire for the Devils to get the win.
Bottom of the 9, scored tied at 5, bases loaded,
Royce Vandine up to bat with a 3-2 count. Vandine fouls off 4 pitches before the Edmonds pitcher sends one wide walking Vandine and scoring the winning run for the Red Devils.
Amundson once again hit a solo HR going 2 for 5 on the day with 2 rbi's.
Alex Hartnett went 2 for 4 with an rbi and a walk.
Kyle Parkman and
Camden Oram both went 1 for 4 with a double.Â
Noah Imboden came in relief in the 9th facing 4 batters with 2 strike outs to get the win.Â
Braeden Munger started on the mound for the Devils with 7 innings pitched, striking out 5, 1 BB, 3 HBP, and 3 hits.
Jase Schuller had one inning of work in the 8th, striking out 3 with 2 BB and 1 hit.
Next up for the Devils is a double header vs the defending NWAC Champion Linn-Benton Roadrunners on Saturday, March 25 at Story Field. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm
