(Lacey, WA) – The Lower Columbia softball team split a pair of games at the NWAC Inter Region event on Saturday March 11
th. Two scheduled games on Sunday March 12
th were rained out.
LCC 6 PIERCE 4
The Devils scored two in the top of the first inning and made it hold up in the victory over the Raiders.
Teeghan Reams hit a two run bomb in the top of the first and LCC starter
Alli Heater made sure it held up.
Heater went seven innings for the complete game victory. She allowed eight hits and four runs.
Sunny Bennion and
Raychel Squibb also had home runs for the Devils.
Destiny Dunlap had two hits and two RBI's for Lower Columbia.
SPOKANE 6 LCC 5
Dayton Kell hit a solo homer in the top of the 7
th to win it for Spokane. The Devils got the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the 7
th but the rally fizzled with a double play ball.
Saydie Knutson allowed eight hits and five runs over 3 1 /3 innings. Knutson had a no-decision.
Darby DeRuyter pitched the final 3 2/3 innings. She took the loss when Kell hit the game winner.
Reams was 3 for 4 with two RBI's.
Emily Panush had two hits and an RBI.
The Sunday games were cancelled when the Umpire In Chief opted to cancel the afternoon games due to rain. The Devs were slated to play Edmonds and then Highline on Sunday.
South Region play begins on Friday March 17
th with a St. Patrick's Day double header at Chemeketa in Salem. The first game begins at 2 pm. The Devils then have another road twin bill on Saturday March 18
th when they play at Clark in Vancouver. The first game begins at 12 noon.
