Sweet Revenge! Devils Sink The Clippers

(Longview, WA) – The Lower Columbia men's basketball team had their lone West Region loss on their mind when they hosted South Puget Sound on Wednesday February 15th.

Back on January 18th in Olympia, the Devils blew a 13 point second half lead and lost to the Clippers 63-60.  The rematch was no contest as the Devils won 97-54.

Emanuel Steward scored 20 points to lead the Devils to the victory.  The sophomore was 7 for 10 from the floor and 4 for 5 from long distance.

The Clippers only lead of the game (3) was one minute into the contest.  Lower Columbia took over from there and built a 44 point lead with just under four minutes left.  LCC shot 57.1 % from the floor, 50% from the three point line and 66.7 % from the free throw line.

South Puget Sound was 17-59 (28.8%) field goals and 5 for 22 from distance (22.7%).

Sherman Royal III was solid with 17 points, six rebounds and two steals.  Ashton Harvey came off the bench with 15 points and five rebounds.  Cameron Holden was also productive off the bench with 10 points and three assists.

Mekhi Morris had nine points and three assists and Carter McCoy was doing work with six points and a game-high 12 rebounds, all off the bench.  Red Devil reserves outscored the Clipper bench 42-18.

The Devils remain in first place in the West Division with a 9-1 record, the same as Green River.  LCC is now 19-5 overall.

Lower Columbia hosts a big game on Saturday February 18th.  The Pierce Raiders come to town for a 7 pm tip off at Myklebust Gym.  The Devils needed a game winning shot from Cole Hardy to pull out a victory at Pierce earlier in the season.

The Raiders are alone in third place with a 6-3 mark in the division.

The first 200 fans in attendance receive an LCC logo Potato Chip Bag Clip.
