(Longview, WA) -- The Red Devils put on show Saturday, November 4, at Longview Memorial Stadium as they shutout the North Region #2 seed, Skagit Valley, 2-0 to advance in the NWAC Soccer Championships.
It didn't take to long for the Red Devils to strike as
Rhyli Grim hit a rocket past the diving Skagit Valley goalie at the 8:22 mark to put the Devils up 1-0.
Jennifer Baertlein had the assist.
From there it was a defensive battle as both teams held the line for the rest of the half. The Cardinals almost tied it up in the first half when forward Liz Cisneros had a shot bounce off the left goal post before being cleared out by the Devils defense.
It wasn't until the 56th minute of the second half that the Red Devils broke through the Skagit defense to cash in the second goal.
Nataija Blaylock took a pass and dribbled around two Cardinal defenders to hit a hook shot into the corner of the net. From there it was back to defense mindset for the Devils who held off the Cardinals to take the 2-0 win.
There were four cards issued in the match, all to Skagit Valley. The Cards played a man down for about a minute and a half before the final whistle.
The Devils won the possession battle getting off 23 shots (7 on goal) to the Cardinals 6 (4 on goal). LCC also had 6 corner kicks to SVC's 1.

The win advances the Red Devils to the Northwest Athletic Conference Championship Final Four for the second year in a row.
The NWAC semifinal and championship rounds takes place at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwilla, WA on November 10 & 12.
The Red Devils will face the east region #2 seed, Columbia Basin, on Friday, November 10 at 4:00 pm.
