(Auburn, WA) -- The Lower Columbia volleyball team took care of business and closed out the regular season with a straight set victory over Green River on Friday November 3rd in Auburn.
The win secured the Red Devils (11-1) as Co-West Region champions with Highline (11-1), but more importantly the Devils earn the number one seed going into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) championship regionals.
Green River has had a tough year with only 1 win on their record but the Red Devils were not taking anything for granted and approached the match just like any other. The Devils dominated at the net with 7 blocks and 42 kills.
Paige Chinchen led the Devils with 13 kills and 16 digs.
Kate Johnson added 8 kills and a block.
Freshman
Samantha Farland continues to be big for the Devils with 7 kills and 3 blocks.
Kambree Baker had 6 kills and 4 blocks.
Kate Onespot-Danforth was outstanding with 21 assists, 8 digs, and 2 ace serves.
Alex Tinsley put up 10 assists with 4 ace serves.
Freshman
Madi Noel shined in the backcourt with 13 digs and added 2 ace serves.
As the number one seed out of the West, the Red Devils will host the NWAC Regionals on Saturday and Sunday November 11 & 12, at Myklebust Gym.
The first match on Saturday is at 10:00 am featuring North #3 Skagit Valley against East #2 Wenatchee Valley.
Game two on Saturday begins at 1:00 pm with Lower Columbia taking on the South #4 Clackamas.
Game three will be the losers of the first two matches roughly 90 min after the conclusion of match two.
The winners of the first two matches will then face each other on Sunday at 10:00 am for the West Region championship and a top seed into the NWAC Elite Eight.
The final berth to the tournament will be decided 90 minutes following the first match on Sunday.
