(Longview, WA) -- The Lower Columbia women's basketball stayed unbeaten in league (2-0) with a 63-32 victory over Grays Harbor on Saturday January 14th at Myklebust Gymnasium.
While the Devils shooting was not outstanding (26% from the floor and 6 of 36 three point attempts) their defense was very good, forcing 36 Choker turnovers. The turnovers led to 26 LCC points.Â
Grays Harbor was able to keep it close in the first quarter as the Chokers trailed by just five after one stanza. That would be as close as they would come. Lower Columbia held the Chokers to just four points in the second quarter to take a 29-18 lead into halftime. The Red Devils then kept the Harbor in single digits in both the third and fourth quarters.
Aivine Soakai led the Devils with 15 points and 14 rebounds.Â
Courtney Swan had 10 points and six steals.
Paige Mace added nine points, four steals, four assists, and four rebounds.Â
Kyla McCallum was big on the boards with 10 retrievals.Â
Sheridan Green lead Grays Harbor with 12 points and 5 rebounds.Â
Next up for the Devils is a road trip to Olympia on Wednesday, January 18th for a 5:30 pm game against the South Puget Sound Clippers.
