(Lakewood, WA) – The Lower Columbia Red Devils knew they had a tough West Region opener when the schedule came out last spring.  The Devils were up to the challenge.
 
LCC defeated the defending West champion Pierce Raiders 3-1 on Wednesday September 23^rd.  The big road win moved the Devils to 15-3 on the season and 1-0 in the West.
 
Kate Johnson led the net attack with 11 kills.  The LCC setters were solid as Alex Tinsley had 18 assists and Kate Onespot-Danforth had 15 helpers.
 
The Devils jumped out to a big lead in the opening set before holding off Pierce 25-17.  The Raiders weren't going away as they tied things up with a 25-20 win in the second set.  The Red Devils came back to take set three 25-21.  The final set was a battle as both teams went back and forth before the Devils took the final two points and a 25-23 clincher.
 
Addie Downs had 15 kills to lead Pierce.
 
Brooke Parsons had a productive night as she had eight kills and 11 digs.  Jayden Foster also put away eight kills.
 
Despite having an off-night at the net, Paige Chinchen led LCC with 17 digs.  Libero Arianna Vreeland had 15 digs.
 
It's another road trip on Friday September 23^rd as LCC makes the short trip to Centralia for a 7 pm match with the Trailblazers.
 
The first league home game is Wednesday September 28^th against Highline at 6 pm.
