(Olympia, WA) – The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team clinched the NWAC West Region championship with an 89-77 victory over South Puget Sound Saturday March 6
th in Olympia.
Keylin Vance scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Devils to the division clinching road win. LCC has won three straight division championships.
Vance hit 10 of 17 shots to score his 27 points in 27 minutes.
Kyle Gruhler had 15 points with eight rebounds.
Dakota Reber hit 6 of 8 shots to score 14 for the Devils.
Lower Columbia shot 58 percent from the floor in the enemy gym. The Devils were up 48-39 at the half and outscored the Clippers by three in the second half to get the win.
Point guard
Ky-mani Pollard had five points, five boards, three assists and two steals.
The Red Devils are 11-2 in the West with one game to go. Second place Tacoma is a game behind at 10-3, but LCC clinches because they swept the season series over TCC 2-0.
The Devils will travel to Aberdeen on Wednesday to play Grays Harbor in the regular season finale at 8 pm.
LCC is locked into the West #1 seed for the NWAC Sweet 16 March 17 at Everett Community College. The Devils will learn their opponent when the field in introduced on the NWAC Selection Show Sunday March 13
th at 3 pm.
Lower Columbia won West titles in 2020, 2021 and now 2022.
