(Des Moines, WA) – It took the first 10 minutes to acclimate, but the Lower Columbia Red Devils women's basketball team was able to get going and went on to a 71-42 victory over Highline on Saturday February 5
th.
Lower Columbia led 14-12 after the first quarter. The Devils shot just 25% in the quarter as they tried to gauge to spacious backgrounds at the T-Birds domed gym.
Once they got the sights set, the defense took over and the Devils outscored Highline 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 30-18 halftime lead. It was over at that point.
All 15 LCC players got into the game.
Michaela Harris was the headliner with 19 points, three assists and two steals.
Jazlynn Novelli had 15 points. She was 3 for 6 from three-point range.
Chinedu Nnadi had 10 points and five rebounds. Point guard
Katelynn Forner led the team with six assists and six steals.
Danica Schmidt led LCC with eight rebounds.
The relentless LCC full-court defense forced 36 Highline turnovers.
Kylie Lunday led Highline with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Lower Columbia goes to 5-0 in league and 15-1 overall. The Devils will host South Puget Sound on Wednesday February 9
th. Tip off is at 5:30 pm.
